What NYU dorm is closest to Tisch? ›

If you'll be spending a lot of time at Tisch, the closest halls are Weinstein, Goddard, and Brittany.

Students have their choice of 23 residence halls, with four years of housing guaranteed to all entering freshman. Housing, however, is limited for transfer students.

New York University has a total undergraduate enrollment of 29,401 (fall 2022), with a gender distribution of 41% male students and 59% female students. At this school, 36% of the students live in college-owned, -operated or -affiliated housing and 64% of students live off campus.

Stern School of Business and Tisch School of the Arts are generally considered the most competitive schools within NYU due to their strong programs and limited spots. So, they might not be the ones you'd want to focus on if you're seeking an "easier" admission path.

On-campus housing costs for colleges outside Manhattan tend to be much more expensive than living off campus, while the higher market-rate rents of neighborhoods surrounding NYU, Columbia, Pace and Hunter colleges make off-campus living the pricier option.

Talk about living in the heart everything. More than 11,000 NYU students live in 23 residence halls, most of which are found in famed Greenwich Village. Two halls are also in the incredibly diverse and hip community of Brooklyn Heights, near the NYU Tandon School of Engineering.

Students are encouraged to sign up for housing by the deadline as space is limited and available first-come, first-serve. NYU's residential halls are co-ed, and each room or suite will have its own bathroom.

We offer a gender inclusive housing assignment preference for all students, referred to as "gender neutral" housing. Gender neutral housing allows residents to be assigned to rooms/suites regardless of legal sex.

Is NYU housing random? ›

Room Selection times are determined by a randomized sorting within priority categories. Students who have registered in a group will have individual priorities averaged to create one group priority.

A resident is permitted to have up to three (3) guests in their room/suite at any time during Regular Hours without the prior permission of their room/suitemates provided there is no interference with the rights of a roommate/suitemate.

Each resident is provided with a twin XL bed and mattress, a desk, a desk chair, a dresser, and a closet or wardrobe. Common areas may include furniture like sofas, chairs, and dining tables if space allows.

NYU owns and manages a portfolio of 2,100 apartments in large and mid-sized buildings in the Washington Square neighborhood. Most faculty members reside in either Silver Towers or Washington Square Village, two large residential complexes located south of Washington Square Park.
